Description
An exceptional matching animation sequence from the cult boxing anime Hajime no Ippo, produced by Madhouse.
This rare set captures a powerful punch-to-camera moment, one of the most dynamic visual techniques used in boxing animation. The character lunges directly toward the viewer as the glove bursts into the foreground, creating a striking sense of speed, force and impact.
The sequence is composed of four original production cels, showing the progressive movement of the punch across multiple frames. Together they form a small fragment of the animation itself, the exact material that would have been photographed under the animation camera during production.
Each cel is accompanied by its original genga / douga drawings, revealing the underlying construction of the movement: the animator’s pencil lines, timing indications, color references and impact marks used to guide the final painted cel.
Also included is the original studio production envelope, preserving the grouping of these materials exactly as they circulated within the studio during the making of the episode.
Moments like this, where a punch explodes toward the camera are iconic in Hajime no Ippo, emphasizing the raw physicality of boxing and the expressive animation style for which the series is celebrated.
A beautiful matching animation set that offers collectors a rare opportunity to own not just a single frame, but a fragment of the animated motion itself.
