An original production animation cel set from the acclaimed boxing anime Hajime no Ippo, produced for the series during its early 2000s broadcast.
This scene features Ichiro Miyata, the talented and disciplined rival of Makunouchi Ippo. Known for his speed, precision and analytical fighting style, Miyata is one of the most iconic characters of the series.
The cel captures a quiet but intense moment of concentration, with Miyata leaning forward and looking down in thought, a powerful close-up that reflects the psychological tension often present before a fight.
The set includes three original production cels, accompanied by their matching douga animation drawings (attached). These drawings were used by the animation team to guide the movement and structure of the scene before the final painted cel was photographed.
Also included are the original timing sheet and the studio production envelope from TAC Group, preserving the materials exactly as they circulated within the animation pipeline during production.
Traditional anime was produced by photographing hand-painted cels layered over backgrounds under a rostrum camera. Sets such as this provide a rare glimpse into that process, revealing the craftsmanship and technical structure behind each animated frame.
A beautiful and authentic piece of early 2000s Japanese animation production from one of the most beloved sports anime ever created.
