Description
A beautiful and substantial original animation production set from the iconic boxing anime Hajime no Ippo, featuring former Japanese champion Eiji Date.
This dynamic sequence shows Date in an intense fighting stance, sweat running down his face as he prepares to strike. The drawings capture the raw energy and determination that define the character, one of the most respected and formidable fighters in the series.
The set includes multiple genga (key animation drawings) and douga (in-between drawings) used in the production of the scene. These are accompanied by a storyboard / layout drawing and the original timing sheet, offering a rare look into the full animation process behind the sequence.
The genga drawings display detailed shading indications in colored pencil used by the animation team to guide cel painting and lighting, revealing the craftsmanship involved in traditional hand-drawn animation production.
The scene is identified as Episode 55 – Cut 285, capturing a powerful close-up combat moment.
A particularly attractive set for collectors, combining expressive key animation artwork with several stages of the animation pipeline.
