Description

Senbei Norimaki Floating Head – Original Dr. Slump Production Cel + Attached Douga

Authentic Japanese animation production artwork from Dr. Slump (1981–1986), featuring Senbei Norimaki in a wonderfully exaggerated comic expression.

This especially funny image isolates Senbei’s head against the cel field, creating the impression of a floating face. His huge open mouth, closed eyes, sweat drops and unmistakable curly hair make this a particularly expressive example of Akira Toriyama’s character design language.

The original hand-painted production cel is preserved together with its attached matching douga. Production markings remain visible on the sheet. Episode identification is currently unknown.

Series: Dr. Slump
Years: 1981–1986
Character: Senbei Norimaki
Original creator: Akira Toriyama
Artwork: Original hand-painted production cel + attached matching douga
Studio: Toei Animation
Origin: Japan
Condition: Vintage production artwork with expected studio handling and age-related wear. The douga is attached to the cel. Please refer to the photographs for exact condition.

A highly characterful Senbei image with a strong, instantly recognizable comic expression.

About

Production art from anime (before the digital era) refers to the hand-crafted artwork created during the animation process. This includes Cels (hand-painted frames), Dougas (preliminary sketches), Storyboards (scene planning), and backgrounds—all essential in bringing anime to life. These unique, tangible pieces capture the artistry and craftsmanship of legendary animators and offer a direct connection to the creative process behind iconic anime films and series.
