Created by Akira Toriyama, Dr. Slump began in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1980 and quickly became one of the defining comedy manga of its era. Toei Animation brought Penguin Village to television in 1981, with the original anime running until 1986.

At the center is Arale Norimaki, an impossibly strong android with the curiosity of a child, surrounded by inventor Senbei Norimaki, Gatchan, Akane Kimidori, Obotchaman and a cast that turns everyday village life into surreal science-fiction slapstick.

These cels, douga and genga are original production materials created for that traditional animation process. Each surviving work preserves a physical trace of the drawings, paint and timing that built the final image on screen.
