Soreike! Anpanman: original Japanese animation production art

Created by artist and writer Takashi Yanase, Anpanman grew into one of Japan’s most recognizable characters. The television anime Soreike! Anpanman began broadcasting in 1988 and its enormous cast and long cultural presence have made the franchise a fixture of Japanese childhood.

This collection is designed to grow as further material enters the Mauer Gallery archive. It brings together original production cels, backgrounds, storyboards and other studio artifacts documenting the hand drawn production of the Anpanman universe.
