This is an unusually beautiful and highly finished drawing of Charlotte in her flowing dress, with the long braided hair and pearl detail associated with her film design. The front carries the clean production linework, while the reverse preserves extensive coloured-pencil work. When viewed over a light table, the reverse colouring glows through the sheet and creates an almost finished-image effect, making the drawing especially striking in person.

The piece is particularly interesting for collectors because it shows two stages of the animation process on a single sheet: precise clean linework on one side and the colour/planning information on the reverse. It is therefore both an original production-used drawing and a revealing working document from the film’s animation process.

Character and design context: Charlotte is one of the central characters of Bloodlust, the human woman whose relationship with Meier Link drives the film’s story. The film adapts Hideyuki Kikuchi’s Vampire Hunter D universe, with original visual concepts by Yoshitaka Amano and animation character designs by Yutaka Minowa.

Condition: excellent overall presentation for original studio artwork. The coloured-pencil reverse is clearly preserved and remains highly legible. Any minor handling marks are consistent with genuine production use and are visible in the photographs.

Original Madhouse production artwork from one of the most sought-after hand-drawn anime features of the late cel era. Unique piece.
