Description
Sherlock Hound: Commandant Raythunder Production Cel + Hand-Painted Background (Tokyo Movie Shinsha/RAI, 1984)
A striking original production cel of Commandant Raythunder, the menacing villain from the Sherlock Hound episode "Treasure Under the Sea", one of six episodes directed by Hayao Miyazaki. This cel was used in the actual animation process and comes paired with a beautifully rendered hand-painted background.
Sherlock Hound (Meitantei Hōmuzu) is a beloved Italian-Japanese co-production reimagining Arthur Conan Doyle’s characters as anthropomorphic dogs in a steampunk-tinged 19th-century London. The series blends action, humor, and stunning animation, with Miyazaki’s episodes standing out for their cinematic energy and storytelling. This particular episode was later released theatrically in Japan alongside Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984), making this cel a rare collectible from an early Miyazaki-directed classic.
