Sunrise Mecha Design Pedigree

GEAR Fighter Dendoh was directed by Mitsuo Fukuda, shortly before his work on Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. The series’ main mechanical designs were created by Junichi Akutsu / Bee Craft, with additional mechanical design work by Susumu Imaishi, Mitsuru Owa and Ryuichi Tobe, while mechanical animation was supervised by Satoshi Shigeta. It makes this large-format cel and matching douga a particularly interesting piece from Sunrise’s early-2000s mecha lineage, just before the creative era that led into Gundam SEED.
