The episode’s animation director was Shizuo Kawai, whose distinctive approach is especially visible here in Kenshiro’s face, heavy eyebrows, jaw structure and controlled expression.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe set includes one original hand-painted production cel featuring Kenshiro in the foreground with Toki behind him, together with three original production drawings. One of the Kenshiro drawings carries visible camera framing guides that show how the composition was intended to be reframed during the shot.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis is not simply a static character setup: the oversized composition and framing annotations document the camera move used to transition from the wider staging into a tighter view. In traditional animation terminology, this is best described as a pan \/ camera-move setup rather than a conventional single-frame cel, making the production material especially interesting from a staging and cinematography point of view.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe Toki drawing is marked B6, while another Kenshiro drawing carries the A2 production notation. These markings are retained as original studio production information rather than used as commercial identifiers.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eShizuo Kawai is credited as animation director on Episode 43, while Masami Suda was the overall character designer for the series. This set therefore offers a strong example of Kawai’s interpretation of the established Hokuto no Ken design language.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eOriginal vintage Japanese animation production artwork.
