Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken) – Solia Close-Up – Original Animation Cel + Douga (Stuck) (Toei Animation, 1984)
This striking close-up cel and matching stuck douga depict Solia of the Purple Light, one of the fiercest warriors in Fist of the North Star (Hokuto no Ken). Animated by Toei Animation during the legendary run of the series (1984–1988), this piece captures Solia’s intensity and refined martial presence in exceptional detail.
Solia is a master of the Gento Kōken (Imperial Fist of Light), a dazzlingly visual fighting style that opposes the Hokuto and Nanto traditions with blinding elegance and deadly force. His noble bearing, tragic loyalty, and visually arresting aura made him a fan-favorite despite his brief arc.
Character Design & Production Notes: The series’ now-iconic character designs were spearheaded by Masami Suda, whose sharp, muscular linework and expressive faces defined the brutal world of Hokuto. Suda’s adaptation of Tetsuo Hara's manga illustrations preserved the raw emotion and operatic power of the source while enabling the series’ explosive action.
Trivia: Solia’s design stands out even within the vivid Gento Empire arc — his flowing silver hair and piercing gaze were often used in promotional stills to contrast with Kenshiro’s stoic intensity. Finding an original close-up cel of Solia is exceedingly rare, especially paired with a matching douga.
